AdventureFish: Take a Hike

This past weekend, my younger sister came to visit me in western Massachusetts and we had a fantastic time! On Saturday, we were feeling adventurous and decided to go on a hike. Thankfully, western Massachusetts has an abundance of hiking trails, mountain ranges and the like. We narrowed our options down to a few spots but ultimately chose to try out Pocumtuck Ridge, which extends from South Sugarloaf mountain in Deerfield to Rocky Mountain in Greenfield. The Ridge is about 15 miles of north-south trails which cross each other at points, making it very easy to navigate!

After spending Friday in New York City (shopping, eating, etc.), it was refreshing to spend Saturday completely immersed in nature. We only saw one other human being the whole time we were on the trail, and it was a man on his bike. There's something about being in the wilderness that puts my mind right at ease. Any troubles I had seemed distant and trivial and even the whole rest of the day I was a much happier person.

The trip took a couple hours, and we hiked about 7.5 miles in all. Great workout...especially the uphill sections that made the downhill sections so much sweeter. So...go do the research, pack some essentials, and get out in nature!
