HealthyFish: Gluten-Free Snacking

A few years ago, I spoke with my aunt, who is gluten-intolerant, about some of the symptoms I have when I eat specific foods. She felt that I might have the same problem that she does, so I visited my doctor. Sure enough, I have a gluten intolerance!

Now, if you know me, you know that I am allergic to absolutely everything (in elementary school, I had to sit at a separate table to only kids who were allergic to peanuts....socially traumatizing to a little kid!). So it shouldn't come as a shock that I was adding one more thing to the list of foods I can't eat.

The transition has been an on-going struggle for me. It was hard enough to eat foods that were decently healthy in college, let alone avoiding all foods with wheat, rye, and barley. No late night pizza, no beer, no pasta, etc. However, not all gluten-free foods are created equal. A lot of them taste like cardboard. Luckily for you, I have found a few trusted brands that I always keep in my pantry. Below are my favorite staples for when I'm craving a little snack (both found at Whole Foods)...

Enjoy!
